Graduation cards for a moment worth celebrating

Graduation marks years of late nights, tough exams and growing up, whether it is kindergarten, high school, college or a hard-won master's degree. Parents, grandparents, godparents, mentors and friends all want to say congratulations, and a card is often read and reread long after the caps have been tossed.

Graduation messages usually mix pride with a look forward: what the graduate overcame, what you have seen them become, and what you hope comes next. Practical advice and gentle humor both work. A cap-and-gown photo or a shot of the moment their name was called, with gold foil confetti, makes the card feel like part of the celebration itself.

What to write inside

Design idea

Upload a cap-and-gown portrait or the classic tossed-hats shot, crop it portrait, and choose "Details" so the tassel, cap and edges turn to gold foil on black paper. For a school-colors twist, use "A colour" to tap the gown color and try silver foil on navy.

  • Gold foil
  • Black paper

When to send it

Graduations cluster in May and June in the US, with winter ceremonies in December, while schools elsewhere hold them at the end of their own academic year. Send your card the day before or the morning of the ceremony.

Links work for 90 days and open in any browser, so it arrives the moment you send it, wherever they are.

Questions

What do you write in a graduation card?

Start with congratulations, mention something specific the graduate achieved or overcame, and share a hope for their future. Keep advice short and kind. If you know their plans, such as a new job or university, wish them well by name.

Is it OK to send a graduation card to a coworker?

Yes. If a colleague finished a degree or certification while working, a card recognizing the effort is a thoughtful gesture. Congratulate them on balancing study and work, and wish them success with whatever the qualification opens up next.
